I am not afraid to admit that I kind of have an obsession with smoothies like my Blueberry Cherry Power Smoothie and my Nut Butter Berry Smoothie. They are creamy, sweet but not too sweet, give me energy, and I can load them up with the nutrient-dense ingredients my body craves.

What makes this smoothie taste like a chocolate milkshake?

Great question! My answer: chocolate milk (try to find a lower-sugar one), whole milk yogurt, and almond or cashew butter. These three ingredients when combined with frozen banana and just a few blueberries create that smooth, luscious milkshake taste. Chocolate milk is really key over a non-dairy milk or even regular milk to adding just a touch more sweetness (plus protein and calcium!). I pack in 2-3 cups of spinach, and I give you my word you cannot taste it at all.

Ingredients

  • 1 small banana frozen
  • 1/3 cup blueberries frozen
  • 1/2 cup chocolate milk low sugar + high protein preferred
  • 1/4 cup whole milk yogurt
  • 1-2 tbsp almond butter or cashew butter
  • 2-3 cups spinach
  • 1 scoop collagen peptides optional

Instructions

  • Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Drizzle the top with extra nut butter and/or granola as desired.
